Ballard Gas Co. meeting with Board Members
On
Wednesday, August 13th, Michael Johnson, District Manager for
Ballard Gas, met with three members of the Heritage Ranch Board. Several points came out of this discussion:
- Ballard offered to set up a reseller tank on Park
property. This would require a
fully trained Park employee to be available to fill tanks for the Park
residents. A proper site would
have to be found and installed at great expense. Residents would have to transport their tanks to and from
the site. We declined to consider
this option.
- Ballard’s yard will re-open for those who bring in
their tanks on August 25th.
Tanks must be transported to and from the site in an upright
position, or Ballard will decline to fill them. The price for the first week or two will be $1.99/gallon;
after that, it will be market price, less $.10/gallon. Ballard will not be repairing customer
tanks any longer.
- Ballard is now offering to allow those who have tanks
on their property to keep them at no charge, versus the previous
offer of purchasing them for $65.
They will accept the old tanks back at any time, should you wish to
convert either to all-electric appliances or smaller tanks.
- Ballard claims that it is not legal for propane
distributors to fill tanks at customer sites. The Board has been unable to verify this assertion. AC Propane is standing by their offer
to fill tanks on-site. They have
been doing this for over 20 years, and contend that the law is subject to
local interpretation and enforcement.
They have had no problems in this regard with the communities they
serve. Their letter is posted on
the bulletin board. The Board
would like to emphasize that an agreement to have your propane tanks
filled is solely between you and the vendor; any problems resulting from
these business arrangements will be strictly the responsibility of the
Resident who made them.
Best wishes,
Dave Bridgeman,
President
